On September 15th the SFACFE held our first dedicated Fraud Tech Conference at Golden Gate University (GGU) in downtown San Francisco. With over 110 participants, 20 speakers and panelists, this was our largest event to date. We received great support from our members at firms like Google, Yelp, Atlassian and others who presented to their colleagues at the summit. We also heard from experts from EY, Blackpeak Group and Starrett Consulting. We will be posting the powerpoint slides to a separate page for viewing and downloads.
Of course the highlight of the day was hearing from convicted fraudster Brett Johnson aka The Internet Godfather. This was the first time that we had ever had a fraudster speak at one of our events, and judging from the feedback, out members really enjoyed hearing Brett story. As we know, fraud is not a victimless crime and the human toll sometimes outweighs the financial. I hope that hearing Brett share his story will help those fighting fraud to be more attuned in our engagements.
Lastly, I would like to thank our sponsors of this event EY and GGU for their support of this event. Although we had some minor technical issues the event location and facilities were great! We hope to hold this event annually in September.
